Meet Rusty Axel

Russ Erickson is a Texas-based independent songwriter, producer, and polymath who creates as Rusty Axel. Drawing from a lifelong immersion in computation (starting professionally in 1979) and influences spanning the Psalms, Funk, Rock, and Swedish death metal, Rusty begins every song as a rhythmic poem. He then chooses the genre, BPM, structure, and ornamentation to honor the words—ranging from sparse acoustic reflections and sensual sestinas like 'The Perfect Day' to high-energy German Discotheque EDM explorations (currently refreshing a series featuring tracks such as 'Von Planet Zed'. He has written songs in English, German, French, Spanish, Swedish, Dutch, Africans, Cajun, Pidgin, and Mandarin.
